Dr. H. Michael Shepard is a globally recognized biotechnology scientist whose breakthrough research has saved hundreds of thousands of lives. A proud Del Campo High School and UC Davis alum, Dr. Shepard led the discovery of the HER2 protein’s role in aggressive breast cancer—and went on to develop Herceptin, one of the most effective cancer therapies in history.

His work revolutionized cancer treatment, turning what was once a likely death sentence into a treatable disease for over 500,000 women. Today, he continues to lead cutting-edge research into reproductive and ovarian cancers as Chief Scientific Officer of Biologics21. In 2019, he was awarded the prestigious Lasker Award, one of the highest honors in medical science.
